In junior high, one of my favorite things to do was to go down to the hobby shop to pick up a new module for the Marvel Super Heroes Role Playing Game (see image above). The game only lasted a few years, but within its short run, TSR (the company that made the game) gave us stats and power break-downs for many of Marvels characters.
Comparing Thing's stats to Hulk's stats nearly made my geeky 7th grade head explode.
There have been a few versions of the RPG since the original's demise, but as of late there hasn't been a whole lot going on in the Marvel RPG world.
That's about to change in a major way. At GenCon it was announced that next year there will be not 1, not 2, but SIXTEEN(!!!) Marvel RPG books released using the Cortex System (I'm not familiar with it, but I know its been used successfully with other properties).
In addition to the core rule book, we're also getting campaigns around Civil War, Age of Apocalypse, and Annihilation. More info here (including price break-down).
While I may never actually end up playing this game, I'll for sure be picking the books up - comparing stats makes my 30-something-year-old head explode.
I still have all of the main books in PDF format LOL. Now that's my 30-Something Geek side.
