If you want to test out Marvel Heroes, the soon-to-be-officially-released MMO game featuring your favorite Marvel characters, this is your last weekend to do so. After this, the developers take all the feedback they gathered to a secret location, fix what they can, dump what they can't, and have the "final" version of the game ready to go by the June 4th launch.
I played in closed beta about a month ago. I spent a few hours one weekend getting to kow the game. My initial thoughts are:
1. This is kinda cool
2. This is kinda boring
Let me dig a little deeper. As a comic book fan, I was having a good time seeing all the NPCs they stuffed in the game. After playing only a few hours, I'm sure I haven't even scratched the surface. So it was a neat experience to play as Hawkeye (one of my faves) and run into so many familiar faces.
That said, I'm an experienced MMO player, so while the early levels of the game had a cool vibe to them, the actual gameplay itself wasn't as engaging as I'd hoped. And the graphics weren't helping any.
I'm going to give the game another chance when it goes live though. Any MMO that is worth a darn has a very easy learning curve in the begining to attract "noobz". I feel like I never got out of that curve. I'd love to team up with friends and face tougher challenges though. So while the initial beta experience left me kinda "meh", I still looking forward to trying the official release.
